Jimmy Doyle and Buddy Russo are two New York City narcotics officers. Their recent luck has been poor—they’re mostly catching low-level dealers, merely the tip of the iceberg, much to the frustration of their superior. Despite this, their work dominates their lives, often consuming their free time.
One evening, while unwinding with a drink at an upscale club, they stumble—perhaps—upon something bigger. Their attention is drawn to a familiar-looking young man, Sal Boca, suspected of acting as a middleman in a major drug operation. This time, their instincts prove right. Their investigation quickly leads them to a powerful French connection: the influential Alain Charnier and a well-known actor, Devereaux. What follows is a brutal and high-stakes game of cat and mouse.
The French Connection is a gripping crime thriller that won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is renowned for one of the most iconic car chases in film history.
As always, the screening will be introduced by acclaimed film commentator Krzysztof Spór (@Sporwkinie), offering expert insight before the film.
