The end of February and the beginning of March in Szczecin is the time when most public educational institutions start their admission process. This year, admissions to first grades of primary school and to public nursery schools and nursery school units will begin on 6 March.

As in previous years, parents can use the website https://nabor.pcss.pl/szczecin/ to enrol their child in the place of their choice. Here you will also find, among other things, information on the individual establishments and what they offer.

      Admission to nursery schools

Prior to admission, as in previous years, parents of present nursery school children must confirm their desire to continue their child's education at the chosen establishment. They have 7 days before the start of the admission process, i.e. until 5 March this year, to submit an appropriate application to the headmaster of their establishment.

This year's admission for the available places in establishments will start on 6 March this year. To complete the application and submit a set of documents, parents will have time until 24 March this year.

Children born between 2017 and 2020 (i.e. between the ages of 3 and 6) and residing with their parents within the Szczecin Municipality are eligible to participate in enrolment to nursery schools. Importantly, only those children who have not previously attended public nursery schools or nursery school units in primary schools, or those who wish to change their school or unit participate in the admission process.

Enrolment in first grades of primary school

6 March 2023 is also the start of enrolment in first grades of Szczecin’s primary schools. It mainly concerns children born in 2016, i.e. current 7-year-old children who are covered by the obligation to receive education. However, parents can also enrol 6-year-old children (born in 2017) in the first grade of primary school.

At the request of a parent, a child who turns 6 in a given calendar year may start education in primary school if he or she has an opinion on the ability to start education in primary school issued by a psychological and pedagogical counselling centre. The second case in which a 6-year-old child may start education at school is when the child has benefited from pre-school education in the school year preceding the school year in which he or she is to start education at primary school. Importantly, in this case an opinion from a counselling centre is not required.
