Public transportation information updated on an ongoing basis is now available on Google Maps. The data include on-time and delayed rides, cancelled rides, vehicle location and information on service disruptions.
Google Maps are the first comprehensive tool making it possible for passengers to plan their travel based on the real-time traffic situation. They operate in a way similar to a car navigation system which adjusts the route on an ongoing basis in response to traffic jams.
“The marked out route will change if, for instance, a transfer will no longer be be possible because of a delay,” said Kacper Reszczyński of ZDiTM.
Details of the cancelled rides are downloaded from the ZDiTM website and updated three times a minute, along with vehicle location data. Warnings of disruptions are updated once a minute.
