Flats for graduates available in Szczecin

Szczecin announces an additional enrolment for applicants to participate in the costs of creating flats for rent within the “Homes for Graduates” programme. The enrolment will last until 1 July and is for the following professional specialisations – design, media arts, general and natural science teachers, doctors, nurses and IT specialists.

The offer concerns 9 flats which are being created as part of the construction of the second stage of the Wrzosowe Wzgórze Housing Estate on Józefa Romana Street and Szosa Polska Street in Szczecin. There are one- or two-room flats are ready for moving in. The area of the flats ranges from 36 m2 to 50 m2.

“As part of the programme, a graduate or a person employed in Szczecin receives support from the City. The support covers part of the tenant’s contribution required to rent a flat,” said Tomasz Klek, the City’s housing spokesman. “ The tenant’s contribution is 29 percent of the construction costs of the selected flat, of which 15 percent will be paid by the Municipality. The remaining part is paid by the graduate.

In order to apply for flats as part of the “Homes for Graduates” programme, you must meet, among other things, the following conditions:

- you have completed secondary school or studies in the profession described in the announcement,

- or you are hired by an employer within the area of Szczecin in the profession described in the announcement,

- or you have a letter of employment from an employer within the area of Szczecin in the profession described in this enrolment announcement, but you must be employed on the date of signing the rental agreement

- or you conduct economic activity in the profession described in this enrolment announcement

- you are not older than 35 on the date of signing the rental agreement,

- you are able to demonstrate adequate household income,

- you must not have legal title to another flat within the area of Szczecin on the day of signing the rental agreement.

Applications for concluding an agreement on participation in the flat building costs should be submitted in person between 13 June and 1 July this year – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the office of Szczecin TBS located at 45/U2 Królowej Jadwigi Street.

The second stage of the Wrzosowe Wzgórze Housing Estate includes the construction of six multi-family buildings with a total of 182 flats. Each building will have a lift. In addition, a large publicly accessible recreation ground and a fountain are planned to be built as part of the land development.

What is more, plenty of other things have also been designed in the area of the housing estate. These, among others, include football, volleyball and basketball pitch, mini skate park, playground, benches, bicycle racks, parking spots – including those for people with disabilities, recreational arbours as well as roads and pavements. The housing estate will also be full of greenery. More than 200 trees, nearly 5,800 shrubs and 1,800 climbers, perennials and ornamental grasses will be planted in this stage. The second stage of the construction of the housing estate is planned for the third quarter of this year.

The first stage was completed in 2019. 10 buildings that altogether consisted of 274 flats were built back then. In addition to the beautiful views of the Oder backwaters from the windows, the space around the buildings is carefully developed. There are playground, sports field, greenery and small architecture on the housing estate. The advantage of the housing estate is the fact that it is located near the Wkra Forest or the “Wodozbiór” nature and landscape complex. Another thing that attracts families with small children is a nursery for 60 children.
