Ban on the use of Oder waters extended until further notice. Does not apply to Szczecin Lagoon.
Due to the contamination of the Oder River within the Westpomeranian Region, Governor of the Westpomeranian Region Zbigniew Bogucki extended the ban on coming in direct contact with all Oder waters, including the Eastern and Western Oder and all their connecting canals, as well as with the waters of Lake Dąbie and all other bodies of water through which the Oder flows, along the section from the southern border of the Westpomeranian Region, i.e. from km 622.900 of the Oder to the northern coast of Wielki Karw Island, i.e. km 45.350 of the Świnoujście – Szczecin waterway, the “Wyspa Wielki Karw – cypel N” mooring dolphin, and on using any of these waters. The ban will apply until further notice.
The ban includes: drinking water, entering water, bathing, fishing, eating fish, giving water to drink to farm animals and pets, using water for domestic purposes, including for watering, and otherwise coming in direct contact with any waters of the Oder River.
The Westpomeranian Governor has decided that the ban will not apply to any crisis management measures, construction works, water maintenance, maintenance works, shipping and deactivation of pots and traps.
The ban will continue in force until further notice from the day of announcement in the Official Journal of the Westpomeranian Region (i.e. 25 August 2022). Depending on how the situation develops, the ban may be shortened or extended on all waters of the Oder River. Please stay tuned for further announcements.
