A walk along the illuminations’ trail and the grand finale at the Żeromski Park.

Let the countdown begin to the most colourful and the brightest night in Szczecin - Szczecin Illuminations 2023. On that evening, it is worth strolling along the city centre and admiring its new staging.

It is best to start the evening of 14-15 August with a walk along the illuminations trail. The first installation will be placed on the façade of the City Hall. The projection on two wings of the building will feature motifs of plants that are well-known to Szczecin's residents: magnolias, crocuses, roses and giant onions. The next point on this light map can be found in Śródmieście Gardens, where the image of Wisława Szymborska will be displayed as a tribute to the poet on her 100th birthday anniversary. Visitors will also have a chance to enjoy recitations of her poems. From there, we suggest going to the Monument of Sailor, where you will get an opportunity to admire an installation depicting a sea serpent and glowing sea jellies.  Sea shanties will be playing in the background. Nearby, at the Fountain Avenue, strollers will feast their eyes on floating magnolias which are “make-a-wish” lanterns crafted at summer workshops and play centres.

Walking past Lotników Square towards Adamowicza Square, the location of the next installation that combines floral decorations and elements symbolising the world of technology, strollers will have a chance to enjoy some time at the illuminated playground (9:00 - 11:00 p.m.). The last competition installation will be available to viewers at Solidarności Square. The project is composed of two parts. The first one includes steel letters from the dismantled signboard of “ZAKŁAD USŁUG ŻEGLUGOWYCH”  (“WATERBORNE SERVICES COMPANY”). The letters are arranged into a new slogan that alludes to Szczecin’s history and opens up a space for reflection. The other element will be a weight swing made from traffic lights that will activate when the swing moves. As we move towards the heartland of Illuminations, to Żeromski Park, ten specially illuminated bikes will be available for rental near the Adam Mickiewicz Monument.

It will also be worth coming to the Summer Theatre area and sit at the escarpment to admire the illumination show for a while. At 10:15 p.m., the lights of the new building will shine and enchant viewers with their colours. In Łasztownia, we will also have a chance to view colourful  “Cranosauruses” which will be illuminated in various combinations.

All those who would like to learn a bit more about the history and interesting facts about the places on the map of this year's Illuminations are welcome to come to the Tourist Information Centre at 8:00 p.m., from where Tomasz Wieczorek, city guide, will take you to the evening walk.

And the highlight of the event will take place in Żeromski Park. Ten zones located along park alleys are bound to make a huge impression on visitors. The night-time scenery, in combination with the greenery and plants of the Park, will give the place a completely different look. Walking past the park alleys, you will be able to admire retro lamps, forest monsters, the neon zone, ocean creatures, or boho-chic decorations that are sure to make the most of every photo. Special maps and illuminated signposts will be provided to help strollers navigate the park and make sure they do not miss any attractions.  In addition, the section along Plantowa Street will have a Street Food Zone with food trucks. Tucked between the trees, there will also be the Disco Zone with a green “dance floor” and a Chillout Zone with deckchairs and beer stands.
