Picnic by the Oder River – Festival of Travel and Leisure

The Picnic by the Oder River is the biggest Festival of Travel and Leisure in Poland. It is one of the most recognisable municipal events of Szczecin, which this year will be held on 19-20 June on the Szczecin Łasztownia.

The Market Tour tourism fair, which is the most important part of the event, is celebrating its 30^th anniversary. It is therefore a special event. The partner region of this year’s fair is the Śląskie Voivodeship. Since its beginning, the Picnic by the Oder River has been held under the patronage of the Mayor of Szczecin as well as the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Polish Tourism Organisation.

During the Festival of Travel and Leisure, participants will have several thematic zones to choose from:

Travel Bay

Among the Exhibitors of the tourism fair you will find foreign, national, regional and local traders, organisations and representatives of local government bodies. This is where  you can discover new places and plan your holidays. As every year, the Great Cooking will include a regional element: around 10,000 portions of Silesian sour rye soup will be prepared in a huge pot. The first portions will be distributed with the participation of the city and regional authorities, invited guests and event organisers.

The Variety Fair

The most colourful zone of the Picnic by the Oder River. Creators of jewellery, handicrafts, fashion and games and toys for children, among other things, will exhibit their stands here. There will also be a food section, where enthusiasts of sweet and salty snacks will feel welcome.

Leisure Park

A space for those who do not like to be bored and are looking for ideas on how to spend their free time – courses, training and workshops, language and sports activities, cultural institutions and others.

Traditional Products Avenue

Regional flavours entered on the official List of Traditional Products gathered in one place. This is where you will be able to buy honey from the West Pomeranian apiaries, regional preserves, wines, and various types of cheese, cured meat and bread. All from the top shelf from the local producers.

Food Truck Haven

Mobile restaurants will dock by the Oder River in order to serve specialities from all over the world. American, Mexican, Asian, Hungarian and Italian cuisine can be found here. Attentive followers of the Picnic by the Oder River Facebook page will have a chance to take part in a competition where coupons to selected food trucks can be won.

Craft Brewers Zone

This is where you can taste exceptional craft beer from a number of local breweries. It is also the place where you can sit on a bench with your friends and family.

Theme Park

By the Oder River there will be roller coasters, merry-go-rounds, inflatables, shooting ranges and trampolines. We offer the participants a rush of adrenaline, and hours of great fun for the kids.

The most important Festival of Travel and Leisure events will be broadcasted from a TV studio. All interviews and footage from the field will be available to view during the event on a wall screen or in social media.
